lviv has great art
Lviv is wonderful at any time of the year. Here people embrace the four seasons.
Presently the famous melody “autumn leaves” comes to mind. Approaching mid-October the weather is balmy . The average temperatures range in the high teens and low twenties. The outdoor terraces are still in full operation and people love to promenade in the warm autumn sun. Just delightful!
Soon winter will set in . This year is particularly stressful with the Russian Aggressors threatening to turn off the gas!
For now, we at Lviv apartments are enjoying the kaleidoscope of colors and basking in the sum
Lviv has always been very fashion conscious and walking along the city centre is like watching a fashion show. The locals dress to the nines even on ordinary work days. “There is also a very unique fashion sense here that rivals the runways of Paris and Milan. The fashion store windows are always well dressed.
Twice annually, Lviv hosts major fashion weeks showcasing local designers and inviting international guests.
This fall’s event was particularly interesting . To honour soldiers wounded in the present conflicts in the Donbas area, many Lviv designers sold garments from their collections offering these funds to help families of the wounded. Also the wives and daughters of these soldiers were featured as models on the runway.
Lviv apartments congratulations the Lviv Fashion Week for it’s generosity and patriotism.
The reconstruction and restoration of Lviv was and still is a massive project. Lviv is a fairly large centre with a population of approximately 800 thousand people. this substantial city was basically left unattended for the period that it was occupied by the Russians during the Soviet Union. Buildings were dark and dirty with bricks and mortar falling left and right. Sidewalks were filled with pot holes, the infrastructure was a bomb waiting to explode. A few years after Ukraine’ independence in 1991 the economy stated getting healthier and slowly tourists began to visit. Slowly the renovations began and today Lviv is an architectural wonder that is clean, restored and beautiful.
Scaffolding still exists where even more building are being gentrified. Civic pride has greatly improved.
The picture in this blog shows the new buses that service locals and foreigners alike. These modern trams and buses are made in Lviv and are the pride of the city. Not long along rickety old trams ran noisily in the city. Now the new buses give Lviv a brand new look.
We at Lviv apartments are so proud of this progress.
October 26 marks a very important date for the citizens of Ukraine. On this day people will go to the polls to elect a new parliament. There is much campaigning in the centre of Lviv.
The polls seem to indicate that the “Bloc” party led by the recently elected president – Petro Pososhenko will win a majority of seats. This victory would provide Ukraine with a pro-Eurpoean parliament.
This election is crucial as this is the time for Ukraine to create the reforms that are so desperately needed. The people who fought during the “Maidan” revolution desperately need a government that will clear the path towards Europe and rid the existing government of the massive corruption that continues to thrive.
The corrupt deputies of the Ousted Yanokovich regime are still running for seats – much to the dismay of the nationalists who are still fighting for change.
The poster herein translate as “Ukraine will overcome” .
We at Lviv apartments are hoping for the best- glory to Ukraine.
Lviv never ceases to amaze!
With the recent advent of tourism souvenirs shops have mushroomed throughout the city centre.
This phenomena took off in full force after Lviv hosted the Euro Football championships in 2012 which really put Lviv in the global map.
Almost every second shop caters to tourists who want to take something home as a reminder of their trip.
With so much competition in the area of souvenirs, shops have become more and more creative with the hopes of attracting that tourist dollar.
A very popular item is the T shirt. They come in all shapes, designs and colors.
But the most recent item I have come across is toilette paper with Putin’s face printed on it.Talk about a political statement!
Lviv is a very westernized centre and definitely wants to move away from the sphere of Russian influence. Of course the citizens of Lviv are appalled at the aggression from Russia which is constantly wanting to destabilize their territory.
Certain these innovative souvenirs will continue to surface. We at Lviv apartments find these creative ideas both very amusing and original.
